WE were Dangerous
WE WERE DANGEROUS
I wrote a feature film, WE WERE DANGEROUS, that was produced by Piki Films, the production company of Taika Waititi and Carthew Neal. It was directed by Josephine Stewart-Te Whiu and had it’s world premiere at SXSW, where it won the Jury Prize for Filmmaking. It screened at BFI Flare, MIFF, Sydney Film Fest and others, as well as opening NZIFF.
Nellie, Daisy and Lou attend an institution for delinquent girls on an isolated island in 1954. The trio rail against the system, finding strength in their friendship but this is challenged when the school's matron divides them.
